Hi girls this week we will be starting a new lesson on night and day and tides, lets use this blog to familiarize ourselves with the content. Here are some questions which I would like you all to attempt. When you are commenting please put the number to the question which you would like to answer.

Questions:
1. How do you think day and night is formed on Earth?
2. What is the force that holds celestial bodies in orbit?
3. Do you think all parts on Earth receive the same amount of sunlight? Why?
5. How is it that in some countries the day seems longer than the night?

Today we were introduced to the planets of the solar system. We have not gotten far and tomorrow your mid term is scheduled. We will try to see what we can cover on Wednesday as far as notes are concerned.

In this blog, let's talk about the planets of the solar system.

Here are some questions you can answer when you are discussing the planets.
What is the planet made up of?
Is it terrestrial or a gas giant?
What are some defining characteristics about the planet?
How long does the planet take to orbit the Sun and revolve on its axis?
Is there any other interesting facts you may want to add about the planet?
To make the blog posts easier to read

Put the name of the planet in bold letters as the heading in your comment

For example:
Mercury

(Then begin your contribution.) Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It is a terrestrial planet. ...........

Remember you can reply to comments for example let's say Emily did a post about Saturn and you would like to directly ask Emily about a statement she made in her comment, then you can directly comment to Emily's post. All you need to do is click on the reply button just under where Emily posted her comment. Its as simple as that! :)

A blog is a posting about a topic or pieces of information. Some of us blog, but are unaware of it!  On Facebook when a friend posts a status or a picture and we comment on it is a from of interaction. A blog works in the same way, however our discussions will be purely related to our field of study.

So feel free to interact with your colleagues and lets make learning even more fun! Remember that this is not a communication pathway between student and teacher but mostly for you, the students to communicate and discover more about science on your own with the aid of your friends.

To help with your end of term exams, every week I'll post a question on a topic which we have already done and you can try to answer and post your answer as well in this way everyone will be learning. This is because your answer may have something which some one does not have and vice versa so this will help everyone's learning process.

If you have any questions post them as a comment in this section!

Lets try commenting...... post a comment of what you think about having a blog session and  what are some topics you would like to discuss!

On the page to the bottom you will see: "Leave a Reply"
1. Type in your name
2. It is optional to include you email (include it if you want to be notified of new comments to the post)
3. You don't need to include a website
4. Type in you comment!
5. Click submit

    Blogging

This blog session was created so that the website can become more interactive and the class can have discussions via posting comments. I will also include a question centre in the need of anyone seeking answers pertaining to the course
