Hi girls this week we will be starting a new lesson on night and day and tides, lets use this blog to familiarize ourselves with the content. Here are some questions which I would like you all to attempt. When you are commenting please put the number to the question which you would like to answer.

Questions:
1. How do you think day and night is formed on Earth?
2. What is the force that holds celestial bodies in orbit?
3. Do you think all parts on Earth receive the same amount of sunlight? Why?
5. How is it that in some countries the day seems longer than the night?

The Earth's rotation on its axis (spin) is responsible for our days and nights.

Yes I think all parts of the Earth receive the same amount of sunlight because as the Earth spins, the Sun too, rotates at that speed thus distributing sunlight equally.

Shaienne let's do some review on that question. Remember we said that the Earth is tilted at at angle at 23 1/2 degrees. This causes the Southern Hemisphere to bulge more towards the Sun. So therefore, that part of the Earth will be receiving more solar energy as compared to the other parts of the Earth. We also said that the Equator receives the most amount of light. THEREFORE NOT ALL PARTS OF THE EARTH RECEIVE THE SAME AMOUNT OF LIGHT

Miss ,I have 2 questions:
1) Does uranus really have rings (like saturn)?
2) What is the dark spot on Neptune about?

Yes Azriann Uranus does have rings as well however, they are not as defined as the rings of Saturn. They are much smaller and not as noticeable as Saturn's rings. They are also very dark which makes seeing them very difficult

The Dark Spot on Neptune has a few theories, some scientists believe that it is a hole is Neptune's atmosphere similar to the hole in our ozone layer. Other scientists think that it is a raging storm which is very likely because remember we learnt that the Neptune has the strongest winds in our solar system
Check out this link for some reading about this question from National Geographic

Day n Night iz formed on earth due to the rotation of the earth about its axis . The earth has a period of 24 hours when it completes a complete turn ._. about its rotational axis .While rotating only one half face of the earth , it faces the sun which we call daytime n the other half is night? Sorry if i didnt get this question right miss :/

That is correct Renelle. Just some pointers when you are answering questions: use proper grammar and english on the blog it is fine to do some "text talk" but remember to use proper english when answering and secondly use scientific terms which we learnt in class instead of saying a complete turn use ROTATION :)

Good attempt!!!!
